Mission

The Africa Judicial Independence Fund is dedicated to supporting initiatives to strengthen judicial independence in Africa, ensuring that judicial officers in target countries can execute their mandates in a fair, transparent, and independent manner.


Key objectives

  1. Foster the enactment and implementation of national, regional, and international legal and policy standards/reforms to ensure the protection and promotion of judicial independence.
  2. Support judiciaries in target countries to deliver transparent, fair, and independent justice.
  3. Support ongoing strategic interventions and programs tailored to mitigate Internal and external threats to Judicial Independence across the continent.
  4. Increase access to protection and redress for judicial officers who come under threat because of the independent exercise of their mandate.
  5. Support efforts to hold individuals and institutions who interfere in the independent exercise of judicial power accountable through civil or criminal actions.

Advisory Board biographies


Program Associate

Linda Theresa Abbey

    In addition to her role as the CEO’s executive assistant, Linda Theresa Abbey has been appointed as the program associate for the Africa Judicial Independence Fund.

    Before joining Afrobarometer, Linda worked with Tullow Ghana Limited, a prominent oil company in Ghana where she played a pivotal role in supporting executives across multiple organizational levels while efficiently managing complex schedules. With over 13 years of experience spanning customer service, executive management, inventory control, and travel coordination, Linda brings a wealth of proficiency to her current role.

    Linda has pursued foundational studies in Project Management at the University of Cape Town and holds a CPD certification in Executive Assistant practice from Souter’s Training Center, UK. She further holds a Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Supply Chain Management from Coventry University, UK, and a bachelor’s degree in business management from the University of Cape Coast, Ghana.

    Team expansion
